Adventures with Coley & Chelsea: Summer Camping Trip at Idyllwild California Part 1!

Chelsea and I love when we are able to go camping with my dad and my step mom Denise. I love that it is always so peaceful and you are able to set aside your daily stresses. We really are able to just relax. This trip was not as long as our usual trips. We spent Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon camping. Our drive both ways was a little over 6 hours as we  had to stop many times. Even though Chelsea is almost 4 years old sometimes its best to let her stretch her legs and go for potty breaks.

This was the first time that we had been to this camping site so we didn’t really know what to expect. Earlier in July I had started using my new fitbit to track my steps and give me motivation to lose the weight I need to and become healthy again. I had been struggling to lose weight and to get active again for sometime now. This fitbit has really given me the motivation to keep going. I wasn’t expecting the strenuous walking experience when we got to the campgrounds. I was already passed my goal of 7000 steps by the time we got to our destination. My dad wanted to go for a walk after dinner and to show us where the pool was as well as the horses. I didn’t really think that it was that steep at first but about halfway I started struggling. I have a bad knee so my knee was beginning to hurt but I pushed through it as that was the only thing I could do. There was no other way back to our campground. Stopping at the horse corral was a great way to give me a break before we began walking again. After all of that I ended up with over 12000 steps for the day.  We even played a game of 10 penny before heading to bed.

Friday was a fun filled day we started off with a great little breakfast. Dad wanted to go on the hike to the saw mill. I decided that I would go a long not knowing how steep this was really going to be. During the hike there were many times that I had to stop to catch my breath. I am just glad that everyone was patient with me during the whole time. We made it to the saw mill in a little more than an hour and a half. It was about a mile and half to get there but several areas were really steep. On the way back was even more of a struggle for me but I am glad that I did it as I would not have been able to see the sights that I saw.

I know Chelsea really enjoyed her time with Nana while we were on our hike. Chelsea loved the fact that there was a lot to explore and see. She was able to collect sticks, pine cones and even rocks. We had a sugar pine tree near out campsite and it smelled like butterscotch. We really loved that the Delgado family was with us as well. When we got back from our hike we had a little bit of lunch and then we headed over to the swimming pool. Chelsea had so much fun splashing around and playing with her flamingo floating toy. After swimming we enjoyed some carne asada for dinner and before swimming all of us had prepared some delicious mango salsa to go with the dish. Dad wanted to go on a short walk after dinner so we went on it. My total steps for the day was well over 16000. As steps go that was a great day for me.

To be continued….
